Ophiopogon Planiscapus ‘Nigrescens’ – Black Mondo Grass

Ophiopogon planiscapus ‘Nigrescens’ is one kind of evergreen perennial that commonly known as Black Mondo Grass and belongs to the Convalliariaceae family.  This is an easy grown, small, clump-forming plant include purple/black leaves the look like grass. During summer flowers appears, which flowed by deep and spherical blue fruit. This looks excellent and attractive in tubs as well as plant in gravel for decoration. This plant is generally used under or around the large plant area to keeps the soil cool and moist to make attractive atmosphere.

Height: 20cm high by 15cm wide

Uses:  This plant is mostly used in garden designing works including rock gardens and border foregrounds, path edger, specimen, and ground cover to small area.

Planting tips: This plant is grows well in moist soils combine with well-drained soil, fertile, humus-rich, slightly acid soil and full sun light area.

Soil type: Moist but well drained and slightly acid soil is suitable for this plant growth.

Aspect: Full sun and part shade is ideal.

Pruning: No prune is needed for this plant.

Water requirement: Required regular or weekly watering as per climate condition to keep this plant healthy.

Feeding: Deep watering combined with fertiliser before establishment is required to make this plant healthy and green.

Pests and problems: Slugs attack can cause some problems.
